Layout decisions

The line height of a font should be considered to adjust the layout accordingly. Too little vertical space can cause a body text to be cramped and hard to read, same goes for too much space.

Justification

A text can be aligned to the left or right, can be centered or justified.

text

Justification of a text can form “rivers” or “channels” in the body of your text. A justified text will have clean lines on the edges but it will be a mess inside the text block. To avoid unsightly gaps caused by justification, sophisticated page layout programs use a variety of factors: hyphenation, spacing between words or letters, and wider or more narrow versions of the font to balance each line of text. The big gaps between words can interrupt the reading flow. Its easier to find the next line if the lines are of uneven length.
